This week, Ian sits down with Josh Kotler from Samson Street Partners. Josh has been in IT services since graduating from the University of Miami nearly 30 years ago. He began selling software and network solutions to law firms, where he learned the basics of running and growing a small business. At 25, he decided that he knew enough to start a business of his own, and with two partners he quickly built a solid IT services company before exiting in 1998 to start a new company.
That company – Western Digitech – grew to nearly $7M in annual revenue with best-in-class profitability. In late 2019 he sold that business to CompassMSP where he soon took the reins as CEO, focusing primarily on growth through M&A.
Two years and 4 substantial acquisitions later Josh left Compass to start his current venture, Sansom Street Partners, with fellow best-in-class MSP operator and good friend, Dave Davenport.
SSP is dedicated to helping MSP owners prepare their companies for the best possible exit, and consults with clients to improve operations, build maturity, and increase profits so that they can sell at the highest price. The MSP industry has given so much to Josh and he is determined to spend the rest of his career helping others enjoy the same success.
